David E. Sprott, Ph.D.

David E. Sprott is the Carson College of Business senior associate dean responsible for overseeing faculty hiring and review processes, AACSB reporting, and leading the college’s international initiatives. He is also the WSU Boeing/Scott and Linda Carson chaired professor of marketing. He received his bachelor of business administration from Kent State University in 1990 and his MBA from Kent in 1992. He earned a Ph.D. in marketing, with an emphasis on psychology and consumer decision making, from the University of South Carolina in 1997.

Sprott’s research interests include various issues related to consumer decision making, social influence, information provision, and marketing public policy.

His research has been published in the field’s top journals, including Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, Journal of Retailing, Marketing Letters, Journal of Public Policy & Marketing, Psychology & Marketing, and Journal of Consumer Affairs. In addition, his research has been presented at a variety of national marketing, psychology, and public policy conferences. He has taught various courses in brand management, consumer behavior, public policy, and research methods at the undergraduate, masters and Ph.D. levels.
